Yann Borgstedt

I am a Franco-Swiss entrepreneur, philanthropist, and advocate for women’s empowerment and education. I was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, and pursued higher education in the United States. Throughout my career, I have worked in various sectors.

In 2005, I founded the Womanity Foundation, dedicated to the economic empowerment of women in several regions around the world. I received the BNP Paribas Individual Philanthropy Award in 2016, and the Womanity Foundation achieved recognition, ranking 136th on the list of the best non-governmental organizations worldwide in 2022.

My love for reading dates back to childhood, where I avidly consumed books and stories of all kinds. I passed on this passion to my children,Eliott and Anaïs. The adventure of Binounou was created as a bedtime story between my kids and myself.

I am deeply passionate about creating a better world and believe that kids have a role to play in that adventure. Writing about issues such as the environment or access to education are the main themes of my books. I see it as an opportunity to spark the imaginations of young minds, taking them on remarkable journeys while instilling seeds of creativity, curiosity and responsibility.

Each word and illustration in my stories invites children to explore endless possibilities, and I find it a privilege to contribute to their intellectual and emotional growth through storytelling.
